Jerome Golliday

January 9, 1953 — March 4, 2025

Jerome Michael Golliday was born January 9, 1953 in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was the second of three children born to the union of Frances and Whitfield Golliday.

His parents, two sisters (Mary Robinson, Shirley Mitchell) and nephew, Kevin Robinson, all preceded him in death.

Jerome attended Soldan High School in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was initiated to the Buick '98 Luxury Car Club. He was an activist with the Black Panther Organization to fight for the rights of Blacks.

He met and married his childhood sweetheart, Sharon (Riley) Golliday, (twice)! He affectionately referred to Sharon as “Fats”. To this union, a child was born: Talise Chantel (Riley) Golliday-Laury. From previous relationships, Nellie was born and a set of twins: Marquetta (Collier) Sharpe and Marlon Collier. Also, born were other beloved children.

In early years, he traveled to different states to attend concerts. He loved music, slow dancing, a spiffy old model car and driving it. He was pretty laid back until the music started – he was the life of the party. In his latter years, he was passionate about spending time with his family, sight-seeing from the bus, shopping, cooking and cleaning the home. How many men are good at that? A few of his favorite sayings are, “Come on man”, “You got that right”, “What’s up man”, and “Wait a minute wa wa wait a minute”. A couple of years ago, he spent time with his daughter Talise and her family in Dallas, Texas where they thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company.

Jerome accepted Christ later in life and on March 4, 2025, GOD called him home.

He leaves to cherish his memory: three devoted daughters; Nellie Johnson Brown (Bernard), Marquetta Collier-Sharpe (Kevin) of Jacksonville, Florida, Talise Golliday-Laury (Lawrence) of Dallas, Texas. One son; Marlon Collier. Seven granddaughters; Jerrica Williams, Alexus Taylor, Jada Rogers, Brittany Rogers, Tia E. Laury of Dallas, Texas, Martera Gillespie of Jacksonville, Florida, Makyla Collier. Six grandsons; Edward Hughes, Jerrord Williams, Antrion Rogers of Jacksonville, Florida, Tarrezze Gillespie, Howard Rogers (Quenessha (Nene)), Justen L. Laury of Dallas, Texas. Other beloved children and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A special mention of a devoted sister-in-law, Sandra Riley. And, a special mention of: Lisa Robinson, Renee Robinson, Chrissy Mitchell-Nash, Bridget Mitchell- Long, Brian Mitchell, Andriea Pleas, Lauren Robinson, and Kendra Robinson.
