Geneise Ann Sebastiao was born on July 27, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, and peacefully passed away on December 15, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of the late T.B. and Dorothy King.
Geneise’s faith journey began early in life when she was baptized at Greater Fairfax Missionary Baptist Church. Her education started at Cole Elementary and continued through her graduation from Vashon High School, where she built lasting friendships and cherished memories, especially with her childhood best friend, Mary.
Reflecting on Geneise, one sibling fondly said, “She would and could warm the world with her smile and pretty hazel brown eyes.” Despite facing many health-related struggles throughout her life, Geneise never allowed those tribulations to dim her light. Those who knew her as "Niecy" can attest to her being the life of the party, always welcoming others with kindness and warmth.
She is lovingly survived by her son, Jewell A. Simms Jr. (Kirsten); her devoted sisters, Beulah B. Brandon (Vercen, deceased), Rev. Dr. Dorothea King James (Willie, deceased), and Patricia Ann Santiago (Michael); and her caring brothers, Jimmie T. King (Retha) and Lawrence King. Additionally, she leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews, including Cynthia Henderson and Lakisha Renee King-Murphy, who lovingly cared for and supported their aunt until the very end.
In addition to her parents, Geneise was preceded in death by her siblings, Bessie Mae Griffin and Thomas B. King.
Geneise will be remembered for her kind heart, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and warmth that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
May her soul find eternal rest.
