Alice Dorothy Spaulding, 85, of Creve Coeur, Missouri (formerly of Williamsville, Illinois) passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on July 22, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. She was born on March 20, 1938 in Albany, New York to U.S Army Colonel Wilburn Strickland and Dorothy Alger. Alice enjoyed 60 years of marriage to the love of her life, Marshall Don Spaulding, whom she met at University of Georgia.
Alice had four children. She is survived by her children, Leigh (Brian) Skamra, Russell (Dorothy) Spaulding, and Scott (Dee Dee) Spaulding, seven grandchildren: Samantha, Zach, Savannah, Laurie, Julia, Brendon and Carter, and four great-grandchildren: Wesley, Gracelyn, Jade, and Lydia. She also is survived by her siblings, Pat (Greg) Franklin, Lesca (Carol) Strickland, and Kathy Strickland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Don Spaulding, her son, Doug Spaulding, and her parents, Wilburn Strickland and Dorothy Alger.
Alice retired from the State of Illinois, Department of Public Aid after 24 years of service. She enjoyed sewing, art, reading, learning history, and playing games with her family. She loved spending time with her family and her canine companion, Pi.
Alice is interred with her husband Marshall Don (a proud United States Marine) at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Animal Protective League.
